Since joining Venn Academy Trust in 2017 at Thorpepark Academy, my career has been shaped by a culture of support, collaboration, and continuous professional development. What began as a teaching role quickly became a transformative journey, one that not only deepened my practice but opened doors to meaningful leadership opportunities.
As I stepped into the role of Subject Leader, I had the privilege of being coached by inspiring leaders such as Simon Witham and Caroline Knight. Their guidance, alongside the insight and encouragement of talented colleagues, helped me refine my skills in strategic planning, action plan development, and progress monitoring. It was in this environment of shared learning that I began to build the confidence to lead with purpose.
Taking on the role of Year Six Lead at the largest school in the trust came with new challenges, but I was never alone. I was empowered to take ownership of my ideas, supported by leaders who believed in my potential. This period was a defining chapter in my journey, giving me the chance to grow, lead teams effectively, and positively influence pupil outcomes.
Today, as Assistant Principal at Bridgeview Special School, I continue to benefit from the trust’s deep commitment to leadership development. Initiatives such as the Aspirant Leadership Programme, alongside coaching and professional development opportunities across the Trust, have not only strengthened my capabilities but also instilled in me the values of inclusion, empathy, and shared success.
My journey is a testament to what’s possible in a trust that prioritises its people, where every contribution is recognised, and leadership is nurtured at every stage. I’m proud to be part of a community where growth is continuous, and impact is lasting.
