Venn’s recruitment?

Within the trust, all our recruiters are Safer Recruitment trained, and we take the practice of recruitment and selection seriously. We love to match the right people up with the right jobs to make a difference in our schools.

  • Our selection process involves shortlisting against the set essential criteria in the job specification.
  • Interviewing and talking with you about your career history, your skills, your passions.
  • We will ask specific questions surrounding the criteria outlined in the documentation shared with you; this will be the same for all candidates to ensure fairness to our approach.
  • Practical job based tasks may also form part of the recruitment process to assess a candidates ability to follow instructions, and perform a task.
  • For more senior roles you may be asked to lead an assembly, or do a presentation. If you apply for a teaching role, you may be observed teaching These tasks allow the panel, or someone inputting into the panel, how candidates perform outside of an interview environment.

We are committed to equal opportunities in employment within Venn therefore we truly do welcome candidates from all walks of life, believing the more diverse our workforce, the wider life experiences our children can benefit from.

A wealth of employee benefits

CPD

We have a range of CPD available for all staff groups within our trust and greatly value developing our staff. There is a Professional Development and Retention document which is regularly used outlining the different opportunities available, showing CPD is much more than going on an external course. We have career pathways for all job roles if you want to develop. Our desire is for you to be the best you can be.

Hear My Voice coaching

Hear My Voice is a coaching programme Venn use to empower staff (and students alike). The coaching centres round a number of qualities and is based upon the premise that if we understand ourselves more, we can be empowered to make the best decisions in life in general, as well as at work.

We have a coaching culture within the trust, used by managers to get the best out of their staff, based on the principles of Hear My Voice.

Wellbeing

At Venn we know that a well and happy you, makes the best kind of employee for us. We appreciate you have lives outside of work and that “stuff happens”- we want to support you through that. We have an employee assistance programme available for use from day one. We have 24/7 support lines. We have counselling. We try to develop a culture of peer to peer support rather than a top down approach; find someone you feel comfortable with and confide in them. Someone else is likely to do the same with you. Together we will…be the best we can be at work because we support each other.

Company pension scheme

We appreciate after people work, they retire, and we recognise the importance of planning for your retirement. All of our people are automatically enrolled into the Teachers Pension Scheme (teachers) or the Local Government Pension Scheme (support staff) and we contribute into your pension pot. Both schemes provide you with a secure and guaranteed income every year when you stop working. (if you don’t want to join, you can opt out at any time)

Holidays

Venn offer a generous holiday entitlement for all year round staff starting at 34-38 days as a minimum* (depending on grade), rising after 5 years. For those who work term time, this holiday is factored into your salary to ensure you are paid your due holiday pay

*this figure includes bank holidays and concessionary days.

Occupational Sick Pay

For when you’re too unwell to be in school, we provide generous sick pay in line with the School Teachers Pay and Conditions as well as the Green Book. We need you to concentrate about getting better, rather than worrying about money.

Discounts

As part of our employee benefits package, we offer a variety of discounts including cinema, gyms, days out. We know money is tight for some people, so anything we can do to help, we do.

*Cycle Scheme

The Bike Scheme is a Government backed initiative to encourage people to leave the car at home and bike to work instead. As a reward, you’ll not only reduce the cost of travelling to work, you’ll save money in Tax and National Insurance (NI). You’ll pay for the bike, and that money will be taken from your salary before Tax and NI is – a salary sacrifice.

*Tech Scheme

The technology scheme is very popular and is designed simply to provide an affordable way for people to access all the latest gadgets. Employees apply, and request a voucher for a certain monetary amount. You get a Curry’s voucher to allow you to spend the voucher on the piece of technology you want. Payments are made directly from your pay without any expensive loan agreements, credit checks or upfront payments to worry about.

*Minimum 6 months in post to be applicable, and restrictions apply to ensure minimum earnings maintained
