Jessica Low – Teacher, Marshland Primary Academy
I began my career at Venn Academy straight after university as an Early Career Teacher (ECT). From the start, I demonstrated a passion for leadership and was given the chance to shadow other leaders within the school. Observing their leadership styles and qualities inspired me to develop a higher level of care and commitment to both our pupils and the wider school community, igniting my ambition to take on leadership roles.
After completing my ECT years, I was ready to take on more responsibility and eagerly stepped into the role of leading science. As part of the trust, I had the chance to collaborate with other leaders and contribute to the school earning the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) award—an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.
During this time, I was also selected to participate in the Aspirant Leadership Programme, which has been instrumental in shaping my development as a leader. This programme has provided me with invaluable learning experiences and opportunities to grow. As I progressed, I was offered a position at another Venn school to join the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Now, I lead two core subjects and play a key role in supporting the school’s development. My time on SLT has been deeply rewarding, giving me broader responsibilities and a platform to make a meaningful impact on pupils, staff, and the school’s future. I’m grateful to Venn for believing in my potential and creating an environment where leaders are nurtured and celebrated.
